CHOLESTEROL
All of us are familiar with the term "Cholesterol". Cholesterol is an essential substance that is produced by our body but is also obtained from animal-derived foods like meat, fish,butter, ghee, milk, egg yolk etc.Our body needs some cholesterol. At normal levels, it is required for body's normal functioning, but too much of its presence in our body would increases the danger of heart attack and other heath problems. It is recommended that all the adults should have his or her cholesterol measured at least once every five years. Cholesterol in the body consists of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (Bad cholesterol), high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (Good cholesterol), Very Low-Density Lipoprotein (VLDL) and Triglycerides.
The total Cholesterol amount in your body is the sum of LDL, HDL, VLDL and Triglycerides.
A triglyceride is an ester and it is main component of body fat. It stores fat that our body can use for energy, But too many of its presence is unhealthy. For healthy heart the level of triglyceride should be low.

A VLDL ( Very Low-Density Lipoprotein ) is responsible for circulation of cholesterol, triglycerides, and other lipids (fats) to around the body and has the highest amount of triglycerides.
Best way to tackle Cholestrol problems is to change your life style, do excercies and follow a healthy diet by avoiding junk and fast foods. If this doesn't low your cholestrol level, then follow the prescription of a medical practitioner.


  • Total Cholesterol level : < 200 
  • HDL or High-Density Lipoprotein (Good cholesterol) : 40 - 60 
  • LDL or Low-Density Lipoprotein (Bad cholesterol): < 100 
  • VLDL or Very Low-Density Lipoprotein: < 30 
  • Triglycerides: < 150 

Your Cholestrol level is alarming if you fall in following category:

Total cholestrol level 
  • Borderline: 200 - 239 
  • High Cholestrol: 240 - 250 
  • Very High Cholestrol : > 250

LDL level
  • Borderline:130 - 159
  • High: 160 - 189
  • Very High: > 190
Triglyceride Level
  • Borderline: 150 - 199
  • High: 200 - 499
  • Very High: > 500


BLOOD PRESSURE ( BP )
Blood pressure (BP) is the pressure on the walls of blood vessels caused by blood flow. The blood pressure rises with each heartbeat (Sistolic) and falls when your heart relaxes between beats (diastolic).

HIGH BP
  • 120/80 -- Normal
  • 130/85 --Normal (Control)
  • 140/90 -- High
  • 150/95 -- V.High



LOW BP
  • 120/80 -- Normal
  • 110/75 -- Normal (Control)
  • 100/70 -- Low
  • 90/65 -- Very Low




BLOOD

THYROID LEVEL
A thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) blood test is used to check for thyroid gland problems.
Normal TSH level : 0.5 to 5
TSH < 0.5 : low TSH means hyperthyroidism (an overactive thyroid) TSH > 5 : high TSH means hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid)

Allowed Thyroid (TSH) levels during pregnancy
In First trimester: 0.1 - 2.5 range
In Second trimester: 0.2 - 3.0 range
In Third trimester: 0.3 - 3.0 range


SUGAR LEVEL
  • Glucose (F): 70 - 100 (12 hrs Fasting)
  • Glucose (PP): 70 - 140 (2 hrs after eating)
  • Glucose (R) : 70 - 140 (After 2 hrs)

HAEMOGLOBIN
Hb or Hgb, is the iron-containing protein in your red blood cells that carries oxygen to your body's organs and tissues and transports carbon dioxide from your organs and tissues back to your lungs.

  • Male: 13 --- 17 grams per deciliter of blood ( 130 to 170 grams per liter )
  • Female: 11 --- 15 grams per deciliter of blood ( 110 to 150 grams per liter )

RED BLOOD CELLS ( RBC ) : RBD or erythrocytes are the blood cells that carry oxygen across the body through blood. Red blood cells are made inside the bone marrow.
  • RBC Count: 4.50 -- 5.50 million


Platelets
Platelets are tiny blood particle or cells that helps our body to form clots which helps to prevent bleeding. It counts 150,000 - 350,000 per microliter of blood and are produced in the bone marrow. When a bleed happens, it rushes to the spot to form a clot which further stops bleeding.

  • Normal Platelets Count is 1.50 Lac ---- 4.50 Lac ( 1,50,000 to 4,50,000 ) per microliter of blood.

Vitamin-D and Uric Acid
  • Vitamin-D: 50 - 80
  • Uric Acid: 3.50 - 7.20


KIDNEY
  • Urea: 17 - 43
  • Calcium: 8.80 - 10.60
  • Sodium: 136 - 146
  • Protein: 6.40 - 8.30





PULSE RATE
  • 72 per minute (standard)
  • 60 - 80 p.m. (Normal)
  • 40 - 180 p.m.(abnormal)


BODY TEMPERATURE
  • Normal Temprature : 98.4 F / 36.88 degree Celsius
  • Fever or High Temprature : Above 99.0 F / 37.22 degree Celsius
